I have to build a catapult for a project and i don't know which direction to go, torsion power or classic bungee-cord-tension one. Anyone know which is better?

I have a bungee cord which is approximately 60 cm long. I want to find out it's spring constant, but I have no masses to do so. Is there a way I can find the spring constant? P.S thanx for any answers/suggestions in advance.

It's hanging pretty low and started clinking against the ground on my way in to work today. No one has a hanger, so would it be okay for 10 mostly highway and some city miles to use a bungee cord, or will it be too hot? Thanks!
